The story of how I met Alexis & Octavio is pretty random, so I thought I’d share it along with their wedding blog post today. For the last two or three years I’ve been going to the same UPS store in Santa Monica to have all my packages shipped out (wedding albums, client gifts, USB drives, etc), and have always such a great experience at this one particular store. About a year ago I’m in there dropping off a ton of stuff and the guy and girl working behind the counter finally ask me: “Hey, so you’re a photographer right? What kind of stuff do you shoot?”, to which I naturally reply “I definitely am a photographer and I shoot weddings”. Well, turns out these two behind the counter had just recently gotten engaged and were looking for a photographer! Octavio has been running the UPS store for quite some time and Alexis just happened to be in that day helping out, after giving them one of my cards I told them to check out my work and let me know if they wanted to chat wedding details. A month or so later I made another run to UPS and of course saw Alexis & Octavio again, who quickly told me they’d love to get together to talk about their plans for the next day, a week later we met at one of my favorite wine bars in Venice and three hours (and at least a few glasses of wine) later, we’d totally hit it off and they asked me to come photograph their big day! I knew from the start these two would become good friends and I can’t tell you how lucky I am to spend time with such amazing people.
A&E hosted their wedding at the ever gorgeous Carondelet House in downtown LA and threw one hell of a party. My very dear friend Yoleine with Yellow Bird Events was brought on to run the show and I can’t thank her enough for creating such an incredible and memorable experience for the everyone in attendance. I also have to give a big shout out to The Little Branch for giving me so many incredible florals to photograph, I do love shooting my details! And now, on to some photos!
