I first met Neal & Jeannie about 3 years when I first moved out to Los Angeles. I’d been doing some part time work for a photobooth company and met these two awesome people at an installation we were all working together out in Orange County. Turned out Jeannie was also a makeup artist so we immediately bonded over a little wedding chat and the rest is history. Fast forward a few years, I received a phone call from Neal last week wondering if I’d be interested in shooting his actual marriage proposal to Jeannie on the following day! Needless to say I was a bit nervous, since Jeannie obviously knows what I look like, I had to do a little photographer sniping and stay hidden during Neal’s proposal, much easier said than done. Neal and I had scoped out the Santa Monica Pier earlier that morning to get our ducks in a row and a few hours later (after a romantic lunch at The Lobster on top of the pier), Neal and Jeannie appeared at the end of their after-lunch stroll. While I was waiting for them, I talked a local performer (Huge shout out to the awesome Casey Day) into playing some romantic music when Jeannie and Neal appeared. Casey played a killer rendition of Love Song by The Cure just as Neal pulled out the ring for Jeannie, looking out over the sun-drenched ocean, absolutely gorgeous :) After Jeannie said yes (of course!), I came down from my hiding spot and we hit the Pier for an on-the-spot engagement session! I couldn’t have asked for better weather, a cooler location, or a more perfect couple, HUGE congrats to Neal and Jeannie!
